This is a 1924 United States Gold Double Eagle $20 Dollar Coin.

The coins were struck at the Philadelphia branch of the US Mint, and so have no mintmark. They have a fineness of 0.900 or 21.6 carat.

These popular coins are referred to as "St. Gaudens" eagles, after their designer, Augustus Saint-Gaudens. 

These double eagle coins contain just under 1 troy ounce of gold.
